Africa Speeds Up Its EV Charging Network
New investments, urban hubs and pilot projects are building the foundations for electric mobility across several African countries.
The expansion of charging infrastructure is reshaping the electric car market in Africa. In several countries, new charging points are arriving, often through private projects and local partnerships, to support the growth of electric scooters, taxis and battery-powered cars.
The challenge remains significant: power is not always stable, costs are still high and coverage is uneven. But the direction is clear, and it matters for Europe too, because the African continent is quickly building the foundations for cleaner mobility and less dependence on traditional fuels.
