Friday at the Austrian Grand Prix has already split the contenders from those who must chase. At Spielberg, several riders secured direct entry into Q2, avoiding the uncertainty of Q1 and laying down an important marker for qualifying.
Among the names through are some of MotoGP’s biggest expected frontrunners, while several rivals will have to fight for everything in the more dangerous first segment. For the Italians, the day delivered useful clues ahead of what should be a tight qualifying session.
