F1 set for shorter races: 290 km target from 2027

Formula 1 is reportedly considering shortening races to around 290 kilometres from 2027. The aim is to make Grands Prix more compact without removing strategy, while also taking TV needs and younger audiences into account.

For Italian fans, used to longer races with plenty of tyre management, the change would be significant but not radical. F1 is once again looking for a balance between entertainment, tradition and ever-shorter attention spans.
