F1, standard-distance races set to return from 2028
Formula 1 is looking to cut back on Sprint-heavy weekends and restore a more traditional Grand Prix format after years of experimentation.
Formula 1 could move back in 2028 to a format closer to its roots, with races run over the standard distance and fewer exceptions than in recent seasons. The goal is to make race weekends easier to follow for teams, drivers and fans after the rise of short events and special formats.
According to the information available, the championship is considering a more classic Grand Prix structure to preserve the sporting value of the main race. For Italian fans, used to the historic F1 atmosphere of Monza, it would be a step toward a more familiar World Championship identity.
