First WRC27 car debuts as the Rally World Championship looks ahead

The first car developed under the WRC27 regulations has been unveiled, marking the project that will take the World Rally Championship into its next technical era from 2027. The FIA’s goal is to keep costs under control and make the category more attractive to manufacturers, without losing the show.

The new formula calls for cars that are less extreme than today’s Rally1 machines, with greater flexibility in chassis and components. For Italian fans, it is an important step: the championship is trying to relaunch itself with cars that are cheaper to develop and, in principle, closer to road-going models.
