Formula 1, Rwanda eyes 2030: deal increasingly likely
According to international reports, Kigali may have secured approval to host a Grand Prix in 2030. It would be Africa’s first F1 race in years.
Rwanda is said to be edging closer to a place on the Formula 1 calendar in 2030. According to reports picked up by specialist media, the plan for a Grand Prix in Kigali has taken a major step toward becoming reality.
If confirmed, the move would bring F1 back to Africa on a permanent circuit, filling a gap that has lasted since the South African Grand Prix. A race in Kigali would also fit into the championship’s wider push into new markets.
