German car industry under pressure: between crisis and Chinese challenge
German automakers face falling margins, weak demand and the rise of Chinese brands in electric cars.
The German automotive industry remains a pillar of Europe, but the picture is less solid than it once was. Flat sales, high costs and the shift to electric mobility are putting major groups under strain, just as the market is changing quickly.
The real threat comes from China: brands that are aggressive on price, technology and development speed are gaining ground in Europe too. Germans still have quality, brand strength and an industrial network, but to stay competitive they will need to cut delays and speed up innovation.
