GM remains U.S. sales leader as Toyota closes the gap
General Motors retained the U.S. sales crown in 2024. Toyota continued to gain ground, driven mainly by strong demand for hybrid vehicles.
General Motors ended 2024 as the leader of the U.S. automotive market, remaining the manufacturer with the highest number of vehicle sales in the country. The group delivered more than 2.7 million units.
Toyota moved closer with over 2.3 million deliveries, supported by the popularity of its hybrid models. The battle between the two giants reflects their different electrification strategies: the Japanese brand is focusing on hybrids, while GM is also continuing to invest in fully electric cars.
