Motegi 2023, the controversial decision that decided the Japanese GP
Rain management and the early stoppage froze the result: Martin beat Bagnaia and Marquez.
The 2023 Japanese GP was decided by the weather. Rain forced race control to stop the contest after just twelve laps, with Jorge Martin leading Brad Binder, Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez.
The attempt to restart proved impossible because of the track conditions. With the standings frozen, Martin took victory ahead of Bagnaia and Marquez, while the decision to end the race permanently sparked criticism throughout the paddock.
