Motegi, the greatest chapters of the Japanese Grand Prix
From its 1999 debut to Márquez’s title triumphs: the most memorable moments at Honda’s circuit.
Honda-owned Motegi has hosted the Japanese Grand Prix since 1999. Its stop-and-go layout, featuring heavy braking zones and sharp acceleration phases, rewards precision and traction while often producing close races.
Among the key memories are victories by Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa, as well as world titles secured by Marc Márquez in Japan. The Spanish rider wrapped up the 2014, 2016 and 2018 seasons at Motegi, making the circuit one of the defining venues of his career.
