MotoGP qualifying could undergo a radical format change in 2027

2027 will bring more than new MotoGP machinery, with 850cc engines and tighter aerodynamic rules. Qualifying is also set for a major review: the aim is to create a clearer and more competitive format while moving beyond the current split between Q1 and Q2.

At present, Friday times determine direct access to Q2, while the remaining riders must go through Q1. The reform has yet to be finalised, but it could reshape one of the most strategic parts of the race weekend.
