Francesco Bagnaia won the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, giving home fans an unforgettable Sunday. The factory Ducati rider took the lead mid-race and managed his advantage to the chequered flag, ahead of Marc Márquez and Jorge Martín.
The race was decided in the early laps, with a blistering pace that selected the leading group. Bagnaia made the best use of his tyres at the end, resisting Márquez's comeback over the final three laps.
With this success the Turin champion closes up in the world standings and relaunches the title fight. The next round is in Germany, at the Sachsenring.
