Sepang, Formula 1’s missed opportunity
The Malaysian GP could have become a perfect testbed for F1, but the chance was not fully used.
Sepang was the right place to push Formula 1 toward a more modern direction: state-of-the-art facilities, a different climate and a track able to challenge both cars and organization. Yet that chance never turned into a real step forward for the championship.
The result is a sense of regret: F1 had a strong and strategically important event in its hands, but failed to build lasting value around it. For Italian readers, it is a clear example of how even a well-positioned Grand Prix can remain a wasted opportunity.
