Seres takes control of Aito as Huawei earns $7,500 per car
The Chinese group reshuffles its EV alliance as profits weaken and Huawei keeps monetizing its tech role.
Seres Auto has strengthened its position in Aito, the brand created with Huawei, at a time when earnings are under pressure. The move changes the balance of the project and gives Seres a more direct role in running the brand.
Huawei, meanwhile, continues to profit from the partnership with an estimated fee of $7,500 for each vehicle. For China’s EV market, it is a clear sign that ties between automakers and tech giants are becoming more strategic, but also more expensive.
