Southeast Asia’s EV market is far stronger than it looks
Incentives, crowded cities and low running costs are driving rapid EV growth in a region often underestimated.
Southeast Asia is becoming one of the most interesting fronts for electric mobility, even if Western markets often read it too superficially. In countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore, EV demand is rising thanks to dense cities, long daily commutes and increasingly supportive public policies.
For Italian motorists, the picture is useful because it shows that EV adoption does not depend only on income and mature infrastructure: urbanization, energy prices and real car use also matter. In this region, scooters, fleets and compact models could speed up adoption faster than many analysts expect.
