Toyota expects the growing use of automation in its factories could turn into a bill of about $6.4 billion a year from 2028. The estimate concerns the financial impact of advanced industrial systems on plant production and management.
The figure comes as the car industry speeds up on robotics and smart processes to improve efficiency and quality. For manufacturers, however, innovation does not only mean productivity: it can also bring very high investment and operating costs.
