Toyota GR Yaris tested: is 276 hp enough to justify the price?
The Japanese hot hatch remains sharp and extreme, but its near-€52,000 list price puts it up against tough rivals.
The Toyota GR Yaris still stands out for its formula: a 276 hp turbocharged three-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive and a setup designed for enthusiastic driving. On the road and through corners, it promises real engagement, with performance closer to a compact coupe than a souped-up city car.
The issue is the price, now close to €52,000. That places it firmly in premium territory and means it has to impress not only with figures, but also with personality. For buyers chasing pure excitement, though, the GR Yaris remains one of the very few truly special hot hatches.
