Toyota Mirai road test: easy driving, but a firm ride
The fuel-cell saloon is quiet and simple to drive, although its firm suspension struggles to smooth out broken roads.
The Toyota Mirai confirms the distinctive character of hydrogen cars: its electric motor responds instantly, while the lack of engine noise makes driving relaxing. The fuel-cell system generates power on board and emits only water from the tailpipe.
Comfort is not flawless, however. Over uneven surfaces, the suspension feels firm and passes some bumps into the cabin. Driving remains smooth and intuitive, but in Italy everyday use is still limited by the very small hydrogen refuelling network.
