US Auto Tariffs: Have Prices Really Increased by 25%?
A review of American price lists puts the immediate tariff impact into perspective: increases are lower than expected.
The 25% US tariffs on imported cars have not automatically translated into an equivalent increase in list prices. TFLcar’s analysis, based on comparing models and prices from different years, shows that increases are generally more limited than the theoretical cost of the tariff.
Production timing and manufacturers’ strategies explain why: many vehicles had already been built or were in transit, while equipment, incentives and model-range changes also affect the final price. The full impact of the tariffs may therefore appear only in upcoming US price updates.
