Used electric cars: how the US incentive worked
Edmunds summarizes the requirements and amounts of the US tax credit for buyers of second-hand electric vehicles.
In the United States, the tax credit for a used electric car could cover 30% of the purchase price, up to a maximum of $4,000. The incentive applied to eligible vehicles sold by dealers, with a price capped at $25,000.
Buyers also had to meet income limits, while the vehicle needed to satisfy technical requirements, including minimum age and electric or plug-in propulsion. Designed to make zero-emission mobility more affordable, the benefit applied to the US market and was not equivalent to Italy’s incentives.
