Vietnam to require cross-brand public EV charging from 2027
From July 2027, Vietnam’s public chargers will have to support compatible electric vehicles regardless of brand.
From July 2027, Vietnam will introduce an interoperability requirement for public charging stations serving electric cars. The infrastructure will therefore have to charge vehicles from different brands, provided they are technically compatible.
The measure aims to reduce network fragmentation and make electric mobility easier to use. For drivers, it will mean less reliance on stations linked to a single manufacturer and greater freedom when choosing a charging location.
