Vietnam to require cross-brand public EV charging from 2027
From July 2027, Vietnam’s public chargers will have to serve compatible electric vehicles regardless of their brand.

Vietnam will introduce an interoperability requirement for its public charging network in July 2027. Chargers will therefore have to power compatible electric vehicles made by different brands.
The measure aims to make infrastructure easier to access and reduce network fragmentation. For drivers, it will mean being able to use more charging points without restrictions linked to the vehicle manufacturer.
